Who We Are

Practical estate planning experience, thoughtful recruitment, and support built around the way your firm works.

Sprout Legal was founded by Carla, a South African legal professional with more than four years of hands-on experience supporting an established estate planning law firm in Montecito, California. She continues to work directly with a California law firm, giving her current, practical insight into the daily needs, expectations, and workflows of a busy U.S. estate planning practice.

Throughout her career, Carla has gained extensive experience in estate planning, trust administration, and probate document preparation. Her work includes drafting trusts, wills, amendments, deeds, affidavits, probate court forms, trust administration notices, certifications of trust, trustee documents, and a wide range of supporting legal and administrative documents.

Her experience extends beyond drafting. Carla understands the importance of client communication, deadline management, accurate recordkeeping, document follow-up, file organization, and ensuring that every matter continues moving forward. She is familiar with the level of care, confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail required when assisting attorneys and working with clients during sensitive life events.

Sprout Legal was created to connect U.S.-based estate planning firms with talented South African virtual assistants who can provide reliable, professional, and practical support.

Support Built Around Your Firm

Every law firm has its own way of working. Sprout Legal does not take a one-size-fits-all approach.

We work with each firm to understand its systems, procedures, software, drafting preferences, communication style, and expectations. Virtual assistants can be trained to follow the firm’s existing templates, attorney-approved instructions, quality-control procedures, and matter-management processes.

Carla does the recruitment, interview, training, and support process. Her direct experience with a California estate planning firm allows her to understand what attorneys need from a virtual assistant and to identify candidates who have the right combination of reliability, professionalism, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Sprout Legal can provide training in areas such as:

Estate planning document preparation
Trust administration support
Probate document preparation
Deeds and supporting property documents
Client intake and follow-up
Matter and deadline management
File organization
Law firm administration
WealthCounsel workflows
Lawmatics, Monday.com, and other legal practice systems
Firm-specific procedures and standard operating processes

At Sprout Legal, we believe the right virtual assistant should become more than an outside service provider. They should become a dependable extension of your team—someone who understands your procedures, supports your clients professionally, and helps your firm operate more efficiently.

Not another generic recruiter.

Estate planning is a specialized practice. We focus entirely on this niche — which means the assistants we place already understand the work before they start.

🔍

Personally Vetted

Every candidate is individually interviewed and checked for equipment, references, and security readiness before being introduced to a firm. No blind résumé drops.

⚖️

Estate Planning Specialists

Our training is built around WealthCounsel workflows, real property deeds, drafting support, and the daily rhythm of an estate planning practice — not generic legal admin.

🌱

Training That Sticks

Customizable 10-hour training blocks are tailored to your firm's systems, documents, and preferred workflows — so your new assistant learns your way of working, not a generic curriculum.

💸

Transparent Flat Fees

One placement fee. One training rate. No monthly percentages, no markup on the Virtual Assistant's salary. You pay the assistant directly — Sprout steps aside after a successful placement.

🌐

Remote-Ready by Default

All assistants are vetted for reliable equipment, secure internet, and remote-work readiness before placement — so onboarding is smooth from day one.

🤝

Your Policies, Your Team

Once placed, the assistant works directly for your firm. Leave, bonuses, raises, and daily management are entirely at your discretion. No middleman in your day-to-day.

Clear pricing. No surprises.

Simple and Flexible Employment Terms

A straightforward placement model with no unnecessary ongoing fees.

🤝

A Direct Working Relationship

Sprout Legal believes that hiring a virtual assistant should be straightforward, flexible, and free from unnecessary ongoing fees.

There are no long-term service agreements required and no monthly contract or management fees payable to Sprout Legal. Once your virtual assistant has been selected and the placement process is complete, the working relationship continues directly between your firm and the virtual assistant as an International Contractor.

🌱

No Long-Term Commitment

We understand that a firm’s needs may change. You are not locked into a lengthy service agreement and can adjust the role, hours, or responsibilities as your practice develops.

Although no long-term commitment is required, our goal is to create stable, successful working relationships. Many virtual assistants are seeking meaningful, long-term opportunities where they can grow with a firm and become a trusted member of the team.

From inquiry to onboarded in days.

A focused process that respects your time — and delivers a ready assistant, not a résumé pile.

Common questions.

Sprout Legal Training and Placement helps estate planning law firms find, vet, train, and place virtual legal assistants who can support administrative work, drafting support, deed preparation, client communication, and other law-firm workflows.
The recruitment and placement fee is a one-time flat fee of $1,200. It covers the full vetting process: personal candidate interviews, equipment and security checks, reference verification, and matching to your practice area. Payment instructions are provided on the invoice by Sprout Legal.
Legal drafting training is billed in 10-hour blocks at $700 per block. Training blocks can be fully customized to match the firm's needs, workflows, documents, and preferred systems — including WealthCounsel, real property deeds, estate planning concepts, and more.
The monthly salary is $1,300 and is paid directly by the law firm to the virtual assistant. Sprout Legal does not act as a middleman for monthly salary payments — we only handle recruitment and training. Wise is recommended for international payments if your payroll service doesn't support non-US contractors.
After placement, the virtual assistant works directly for your firm. Sprout Legal does not manage the Virtual Assistant after placement. Leave, time-off policies, bonuses, raises, and daily management are entirely at the hiring firm's discretion.
The firm should confirm its preferred tools at the start of the relationship — email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Monday.com, Lawmatics, Zoom, or another platform. A daily check-in is recommended during the first few weeks. The firm should assign a team member to review the assistant's work, especially for drafting, deeds, and client-facing communication.
The firm should provide access to required systems, written workflows, sample documents, naming conventions, task instructions, communication expectations, and a designated person for questions. Clear onboarding materials significantly speed up the assistant's ramp-up time.
